Driverless Lorries (trucks in american)

Guys, just ready this article http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-41038220 . Both the chatter and the technology surrounding driverless trucks is increasing. It appears if we don't do something, we will be out of jobs in 5 to 10 years. My question is, what do we do about it? I've laid out a few options below:

1. Like Comcast, we collectively realize our business model is outdated, so we lobby the government for protection. This option likely buys us another 20 years? With this government option - who do we vote for? I know it's unpopular, but i think the left would be better for us (Truckers for Hillary/Bernie 2020?)

2. Form a loose association or union, and boycott any firms that start to use driverless trucks. This may be hard however, because how do we beat up the scab drivers?

3. Learn other trades and shift out of the industry.

I'm genuinely concerned here and would like your opinions please. thank you,

With the increasing very poor work ethic of todays work force, I don't think it can come soon enough. Its not all about the driver wage either. Money does not improve most peoples work ethic. Your either a good worker or your not. I have worked a few places in my day that paid very poor but i still gave my all and thru those values is what me me who i am today and nothing came easy to me nor did i have help other that the banker himself that i proved i can survive anything I put my mind to.

where can i buy these trucks at? how much do they cost? which brands make them mack, peterbilt, kenworth navistar?

I agree. I have pondered this some. Which would I rather have? A driverless truck or a mindless driver? I think there will be work for skilled drivers for quite a while yet.

Can't wait to see how a driverless tractor handles a icy gravel road down a hill around a corner in montana in january. hope they got some good driverless tow trucks to pull em out too. Feeling good about my chances. Russ,keep your union and your lefty ideas bottled up, don't need big brothers help on thisone
