We had Login.gov set up and I checked everything before the transition to MOTUS rolled over. After the rollover, I tried going in last week to make sure everything is good. Was able to get into Login.gov just fine. Tried following the emailed directions Foleys provided. Got through step 2 (Agree to Terms and Conditions) then system gave me the message "Your account has been reset." What does that mean??? Couldn't move forward with the box system provided to log out and back in to reset. Logged out of Login.gov and back into system multiple times hoping to reset system with no luck.

I tried calling the FMCSA phone number provided multiple times (5-6 times) received nothing but busy signal every time. Has anyone actually ever been able to speak to a real person if/when they called the FMCSA phone number?

I emailed them three separate times and received the same automated email response which provided all info that wasn't applicable to our issue. Not helpful!

Finally, I tried the Live Chat option.... started out as #894 in que (true story, I'm not making this up!), waited close to 5 hours that day, got to #3 in the que (I was very excited at this point) and immediatly received message that stated "Status cancelled: There are no agents available to chat with you right now. Please try again later." (Yes, I lost my shit at that point).

I have screenshot photos of every issue in case FMCSA tries to penalize us, we have proof we tried getting into system.

I don't know how FMCSA expects any of us to actually navigate this new system that's supposed to be so wonderful. I have found nothing wonderful about it and their customer service is unacceptable. I have no more answers about how to fix our issues or who to even contact for help.

If anyone out there has has the same issue as us, I would be greatly appreciated if you would respond back to this if you were able to resolve it and how you were able to fix it.

Thank you!

submit an individual federal-agency assistance request and identify FMCSA / U.S. Department of Transportation as the agency involved.

I would specifically state that the request concerns FMCSA / U.S. Department of Transportation and explain how long they have been attempting to obtain assistance, what FMCSA matter is pending, and how the lack of response is affecting their ability to operate.

Senator Tom Cotton is Arkansas's other U.S. Senator. His office provides constituent services, including casework for Arkansans.

Hi Robert, your best option is contacting Senator Tim Sheehy

His office has an online Federal Agency Help / Privacy Release process, and 59032 is in the eastern Montana region, handled through the Billings office. His office lists:

Billings: 222 N. 32nd Street, Suite 102, Billings, MT 59101
Phone: 406-252-0559
Casework email: [email protected]

https://www.sheehy.senate.gov/services/help-with-a-federal-agency/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

You will need to complete the Privacy Release Form so the senator's staff is legally authorized to communicate with FMCSA concerning his case.

Once your submit the case work form I would recommend the following: call 406-252-0559 after submitting the casework form and say: “I just submitted a federal agency assistance request concerning an FMCSA operating-authority delay. My waiting period has passed, FMCSA will not tell me why my MC isn't active, and I've been unable to get a supervisor callback. This is preventing my trucking company from operating. Can a constituent liaison please review my case?”

We wish you all the best Robert!

Hi Michael,

For this situation, I would start with Senator Chuck Grassley’s constituent-services office. His office has a dedicated Help With Federal Agencies process. You complete the online information, generates a Privacy Release Form, signs it, and returns it with supporting documentation. Senator Grassley’s office says the signed release is required before his staff can begin working with the federal agency.

https://www.grassley.senate.gov/services/help-with-federal-agencies?utm_source

Be sure to gather all of your company information and emphasize that you are unable to geth through to FMCSA by either method available to you. Include that the telephone process results in excessive holds/disconnections, while the online system freezes, fails, or prevents them from proceeding.

I would also recommend that you go ahead and call Grassley's office -

Senator Grassley has constituent-service specialists in several Iowa offices, and his office says they help Iowans work through problems with federal agencies.

https://www.grassley.senate.gov/about/results/constituent-services?all=true&utm_source

When you call I would say:

“I'm an Iowa motor carrier and need to open a constituent case involving FMCSA. I've repeatedly tried to resolve the problem directly. I'm spending hours on hold and getting disconnected, and when I try to complete the process online, the system locks up or tells me it failed. I need assistance getting an FMCSA caseworker to review my account and tell me what I need to do."

Good luck Michael!

Hi Jonelson, I would start with U.S. Senator Rick Scott’s office. His office has a specific Help with a Federal Agency casework process. His staff can contact a federal agency to ask about the status of a case and review whether it is being handled properly. A signed consent/privacy release is required before the agency can disclose information to his office.

https://www.rickscott.senate.gov/contact/casework?utm_source

You can also contact Senator Ashley Moody's office if necessary. Her office has a General Casework process specifically for Floridians experiencing problems with federal agencies.

https://www.moody.senate.gov/how-can-i-help/?utm_source

I also would recommend that you not create additional account or submit different applications - If the existing USDOT/MC/application is stuck in FMCSA's system, creating duplicate records could make the situation more complicated. The congressional inquiry should specifically ask FMCSA whether the existing application needs to be reinstated/reset or whether FMCSA needs to clear something before you can reapply.

Good luck Jonelson!
