What's everyone doing to keep running with the high fuel prices? Fuel keeps going up but it doesn't seem like the hauling rates are changing much if at all.

Putting money in my pocket. High fuel prices have usually been good for my business. Generally two things happen. Poor operators get in trouble quickly and have to leave the business. The fuel sur-charge standard is based on 5-6 mpg. Getting really good fuel mileage covers the extra cost and then some. Twenty plus years ago we struggled to get customers on board with fsc. I believe today many of them have their own fsc built in wanting to protect themselves from rates going up and never coming down. |
