I’m new to doing my own filings as an owner-operator and just ran into the Form 2290 requirement. I wasn’t aware of the EIN requirement since I’ve always just used my SSN for tax stuff in the past.
For those who’ve already gone through it:
- How long did it take you to get your EIN fully active for e-filing?
- Were you able to file 2290 the same day you got it, or did the IRS system take a while to update?
I ended up using one of the online filing options (send2290.com) just to get it done quickly, but I’m still trying to understand what the typical experience is like for most people doing it manually or through other services.
Any tips for first-time filing would be appreciated — just trying to make sure I didn’t miss anything important.
