Will hauling shred steele mess up a liner in a aluminum trailer?

If only 1x load, very high chance. Definetly if doing repeat runs. Rule of thumb, liner = no scrap/metal at all.

No, I've been doing in for two years out of Yaffe here in Tulsa. I had liners in both my dump truck and my now 39ft Travis End Dump. Both are aluminum beds.

It depends on your definition of messed up, if they are hot when they go into the trailer they absolutely will, but if they are cooled off it’s less of a problem, they are going to grind in and leave grooves in the plastic for sure, a thick liner will hold up better than a thin one will, it’s also going to depend on if it was properly installed when it was new. I have a buddy who does it on a daily basis, he puts in a new 1/2 inch thick liner every year.

Thanks for the info, think I am going to pass on it.

Has anyone priced a new liner lately? I’ve heard some pretty outrageous numbers lately.

I put 2 in this fall. Both 3/8 thick, trailers were 39x96 square trailers and the 2 kits shipped to my shop was roughly $10,500

Your looking at more than double that if you get one made for abrasive loads, like a haulk liner, my buddy just got quoted $13,000.00 delivered, plus another three thousand for the install, in his 40 foot dump. You would think those loads would pay a better rate with that kind of added expense, but it’s typically a back haul, I’ve never seen anyone that could bounce for those, unless they are going 30 miles or something.

Yes it will . Not to mention good chance of tire damage where you load & deliver . Also a no no if you haul food grade products !

My understanding is the HUALK is promoted as a liner for abrasive loads like scrap metal, yet they won’t warranty it for that particular application, so I can’t help but wonder if it’s really worth that kind of money.

I bought an end dump with the hulk liner in it and didn't last any longer then the black quick silver ones that I usually use.
