Hello everyone, So i received a phone call a week ago about selling my DOT & MC#. They tried to tell me you can do that. NO YOU CAN'T!! Those numbers cannot be transferred to anyone. Go look it up. Just a heads up for everyone. ✌✌

Really? I transfered two last year. Getting ready to do a third this fall. MC with history might save on insurance. But if its been down for a while, its still a new entrant and scary Insurance dollars.

Jeff: how long is the MC active when you sell? Is your name completely taken off?

Thank you

the ability to file a new MCS150 with new ownership is entirely possible and this will immediately change the ownership of the DOT # online. At the end of the day you could probably get away with it, but when an insurance claim comes in and it starts to get researched, you may have trouble.

By law, a DOT# is not transferrable for common authority. I paid a transportaion lawyer to tell me this exactly same thing.

You could sell your whole business under a STOCK SALE, and that would be fine. broker dot #'s can be transferred
