We received notification Roadlog is out of the ELD business Aug 1. Is there an ELD with ag-exemption rules programmed into the device?

ISE Fleet. But you have to go to on duty to get to that option, so it shows you Ag exempt, but it counts off your 70 hr

I need to get an ELD, and not a techie, so your research so far on the Ag Hos, have you found any reviews? What bothers me is if this runs off cellular, is it going to work/pass inspection, when I'm in an area without service. What else is on your short list?

The worst spot I've ever driven for service is between Gillette wy and broadus Mt on 59. Zero bars of service on your phone on that stretch, my eld logs it perfectly every time. I've never had to transfer anything to an inspector there, but I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not familiar with that brand. But my eroad requires cell service to transfer data to an inspector. I've never had a problem and I run in many zero cell service areas very frequently.

Dale, is it Verizon?

I've been looking for your answer. For my eroad, it says that it uses "two wireless providers for optimum reliability". It doesn't specify which ones they are. I don't pay for a specific data plan. I'm assuming its figured into my monthly subscription, which for me is 35 a month and that includes fuel tax. It makes ifta super easy so im content to pay it.

Dale, you don't specifaclly say, but back to OP question.... does the eroad have the ag exemption rules programmed into it??

It does not. That's my only complaint. Must select of duty personal conveyance, and make a note. Its no big deal unless you forget to select PC again after fueling and start driving, it automatically logs on duty driving, then you have to explain to the patient and understand dot officer why you are logged on duty for 18 seconds....

I have the VDO now and it worked awesome. Now they are shutting down on August 14. The DOT hated this ELD, which made me really like it. Just wondering which other ELD out there is worth switching to, with some of the same features.

I run transflo eld 20 bucks a month and just unhook it for ag exempt .....takes like 2 seconds....but then I can't use it for ifta

Hey, Kent, what you thinkn by now on the AG HOS, looks really good from what I've seen, but haven't read anything about IFTA reporting, not even on their website, or app reviews, surely they would have an easy way to do that?Have you found that out? Think I'm going to call them.

Everyone else, No one has used/tried this eld?

I've talked to them for some time on a couple different occasions. Over the phone it sounds promising. Regarding IFTA-this ELD records state miles just like any other. The system is relatively inexpensive, and the subsription is more or less the same as Roadlog. There is no "hardwire" between the truck and the eld. It uses a wifi/bluetooth type of connection. It also, for remote/desktop use, requires a data/SIM card in the (cell phone or tablet) device you are using their app with. We're going to give it a try.

BTW-We liked the fact that most diesel bears DESPISED the Roadlog unit! Too bad they are shuttering, maybe I'll get some money back?

We've been running GeoWiz now for about 2 months. It's a great ELD program. Keeps track of our Ag Exempt radius then automatically changes when we cross the line. I am very pleased with the program. The customer support is also very good.

This is actually more of a question I can't seem to find the right answer for. We don't run EDL logs because we are ag only we keep a log book but are not required to have EDL's in our equipment. That being said we have purchased another farm upstate in ME which is now approximately 500-700 miles from our current farm, would we be required to use an EDL when going between the farms since it's outside the 150 air mile radius or because it's still our farms it would still be exempt. I don't want to violate any laws unnecessarily or get any of my drivers in any DOT trouble. Do you guys know the rules about that if your farms are far apart? We run apportioned tags not farm tags.

If I needed an EDL how would you use it in this instance? We wouldn't be transporting for a fee since it would be our product going both directions, but some of the grain is sold to a local grainary in our home location prior to transport.

Bulk loads has podcast that gives an explanation of the ag exemption that is better than any dot officer can explain it. Id call a scale and ask just to be sure because every state is a little different with some rules.

If you are going that far and crossing state lines, I'd recommend an e log anyway, just for the organization of your fuel tax info. In your case, i dont think the e log would restrict you too bad, even if they do require you to have one. You get 150 air miles or 175 driving miles from the source, (where you load), so if you plan properly, you get alot of free time. Wish I had a yes or no answer for you but the fmcsa loves gray areas so I'm not sure

We run the GEOWIZ Elog and it works great. AG air exemption miles are automatically calculated when choosing your pickup location. Everything is automatic after you leave the Exempt air radius. No button pushing or any input from the driver. Tech support is second to none. I dont plan on changing anytime soon.

If you are more than the legal radius from your home terminal, or more than the legal radius from your loading point you will need an ELD. It appears from your posting that you will also be crossing state lines, also will likely demand an ELD. With that said, if you ONLY move your property and not move anything for anyone else, you could likely declare "not for hire" status. It's not clear to me what that would mean to various diesel bears, but, it would be worth asking about. Private property is private property, if you are not in the "for hire" category I'm SPECULATING you'd be exempt.
