Our Nation's Emergency--Again

December 7, 1941

Japanese attack our pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor Hawaii

Our pacific fleet was all but destroyed. It was a dark time for America. We could lose everything that we held dearly, our freedom, our country and our very existence.

President Roosevelt called out to the nation on a radio address calling for us to rise up and fight this terrible enemy that could destroy our nation and people.

The people did just that, it took time, but America rose to the challenge united together and defeated our enemies. President Roosevelt wasn’t besieged on December 10th by reporters demanding to know when was the rebuilding of the fleet was going to be done. He didn’t have republicans criticizing his actions. We were united against a common enemy.

Almost 80 years later we again have been attacked by an enemy that could destroy us.

Do we unite behind the president? Not what I’ve seen. Reporters screaming out questions. Why don’t we have what we need to combat the virus, when told that that factories are tooling up to supply our needs, they complain “it’s not fast enough” everything he promises to do is criticized and Ridiculed. The Democrats are trying to score political points and votes with their criticism.

GIVE IT TIME PEOPLE. Relief is coming. Soon supplies will be plentiful. Stop hoarding, buy what you need and leave some for others who have families just like you do.

Put aside your hate for our president and let’s work together to defeat this enemy.

Thanks for the kind words, folks. I had stocked up with groceries just prior to all the shut downs, including ONE large package of T.P., and I have been "chained" to my desk ever since. And with my age I plan to stay here for a couple of more weeks.

Having been born just after WWII, I was raised knowing all about the war and the country's response. Dad had been a bomber mechanic stationed in North Africa and I did a "tour" in Nam in '67-68. Whether that conflict was right or wrong, I just did my duty because I love my country. And because my dad, grandfather, great grandfather, etc. had all been patriots who served.

I hate seeing what's going on right now with civilian, and mainly some news commentators, in regards to our president. Our nation is responding to the call as fast as possible. I just hope the truckers hauling these products stay healthy and continue their good work.

Thank you for your service! You fought in a war that you had no chance to win! The way the soldiers were treated when they came home was absolutely the worst! Men and women went and did the job asked only to come home and be treated as badly as possible simply for doing what was asked!

Here is my take on things. Social media is the devil! So much hate! So much pressure to think what everyone else thinks and if you actually do have opinions of your own that do not conform with the masses, you are called names and told how stupid you are! The media in the country does not report the news. Back in my youth be had Dan Rather, Walter Concrite and Harry Reasnor to get us the news. They reported the news fairly and not tried to sensationalize the news or push a narative! Respect these days is nothing more than a word. Honoring your elders is just a suggestion.

All I know is that if I acted the way the youth of this country act these days, my parents would have chapped my hide and it would have been justifiably done with love and not abuse!

I long for the good ole days but realize that they are never coming back!

Take care and stay well. We need all the common sense we can find in this world!

You are correct, Keith. Speaking of Concrite, he was a very strong democrate. However, he always showed, or spoke of, both sides of an issue.

Did you know that, when he was away "on assignment", he really was? He had a yaucht that was named 'On Assignment'.

I didn't know that tidbit but it makes perfect sense! To be very honest, I was quite young while watching him and I really did not have an idea of what his political leanings were. I think the reporting was hands down better in those days than now. The age of instant gratification has taken over and fair, unbiased reporting has gone by the wayside.

I hope as this Corona Virus is over, I hope that the general public has some respect for the american truck driver!

I agree with everyone here. I dont think our country has divided people, we have an abusive media. I was forwarded a link this morning from the daily wire...it explained how cnn, MSNBC, all the biggies , lambasted trump over how he handled the reporter asking him the stupid questions, that reporter was trying to scare the public in my opinion, but anyway, they lambasted trump for giving false hope due to discussing a few of the medicines they are using. They trash talked trump about it......hours later, Andy Cuomo, (fredo's brother) gives the same speech, nearly word for word, and CNNs brian stelter reports that Cuomo is the example of leadership. What the heck???? I'm a former dem, I talk to dems alot, we all get along, turn off the news and I feel way better

I have worked with four presidents in my military career, each one brought different perspectives. Every one thinks its the president's job to "fix things ", however it is not. Its amazing how little the American people know about the branches of government and how they work and dont work. The president is not like the queen of England or even like Putin. He is head of the Executive Branch Only. What he can and cant do is extremely limited. Its ironic how he gets blamed for everything that goes right and wrong when he controls so little of it. Everyone should think of the president as more like a CEO. A Figure head so to speak who is the vision of the corporation or country but has limitations in what they can make happen realistically. Why, because the real power lies not in the Executive Branch but in the Legislative Branch (Congress). Here is where the rubber meets the road, where the bread gets buttered. If they dont agree to whatever the CEO OR President desires well they say No. So, here everyone is blaming the wrong guy, if you want change good or bad you change congress. Historically a president with the opposition majority in the Legislative branch makes the most long term laws and impressions. Well unless you were Nixon or Kennedy but they are special cases. Also think about the president's of past how many can you name? Can you recall any of their policies good or bad aside from Regans trickle down economics and Clintons liasons of course Obamacare. Do you remember them for anything else they did? Bush was reamed this way and that for his response to 9/11. Now he's celebrated for it. Same with Roosevelt at the time he was reviled by Americans for pearl harbor for supposedly knowing and doing nothing. Remember no one person controls the narrative here. The president is in this case mostly a figure head with limited resources in his direct control. If your looking to place blame look to the Legislative Branch, the real power lies within. The president didnt give you a stimulus The Legislative Branch did well once they finally got around to it and could agree, and werent making themselves millionaires from the market tanking. I think people are misplacing their anger here on the wrong person. Trump is extremely polarizing. You either love or hate him, but remember the electoral college elected him based on Americans votes. Everyone always thinks they could do better in the midst of a tragedy, some might but the majority would fail. The president's job isnt just ratings, its to try and remain neutral and positive. To keep the ship upright and moving in the midst of the storm. When the storm passes is the time for should of would of could of... not now during. No one person is a diety all knowing and powerful to fix and alleviate every ill. He is human as are we all, doing the best or worst with the information given each day. Believe you can do better and your over 38 run for president or congress or Senate. Change only happens when people are motivated in a different direction, good or bad. The rise of Hitler is a good example of that exact exercise. Sometimes the saying is true watch out what you wish for you just might get it, and please stop blaming everyone else when that happens.

Why are you ignoring Lincoln's tyranny, countless unconstitutional acts and subesquent deaths of 600,000 plus Americans?

Until the mid 80's I was a card carrying dem and union member. After doing a thorough study of the history of the Federalist / Democratic party I quit them and became an Independant, wondering who in their right mind would ever be a dem.

I did not learn what was in the "bail out" bill for our citizens and businesses until last night, when I happened to tune in to the Mark Levin show on Fox. I was flabbergasted with learning how much Pork Pelosi and her coharts-in-crime added to the bill. Programs they have wanted to add for years that they were not able to get passed and ones that really did not contribute to our people at this time.

Younger folks will never learn about the branches, or our true American history, as long as the progressives and liberals have eliminated this subject from the education system. We've lost our heritage.

I disagree that the president is polarizing. The media pushes the narrative that he is, and people only dedicated to their party believe that narrative. I agree with the rest of your post, but trump being polarizing is fake news. Again, I blame the media.
