So with the hos extensions for COVID 19 hauling ag products I had a few questions. 1. Do we still have to run log books? 2. My truck is newer. Do I need to run elogs? 3. Do I need to keep track of anything else if I don’t need to run log books? That should be all my questions but I would appreciate all feed back.

I don't use it, but my understanding is that toy still have to use an ELOG but in PC MODE listed as ag exemption and then list what you're hauling.... i think it's also going to be listed on your bills as "livestock feed"..... grains, corns, that stuff that's used for animal feed. Pet food doesn't count. Maybe im wrong, who knows. Im sure I'll get corrected as always. But i rarely run it that way. ✌✌

Believe you need to find the exemption mode on your ELD. Run under that and as the other fellow said list your commodity. Not sure running under PC will work.

Most eld devices don't have an exemption duty status. So PC and make a note and it's all good

on the last extention that is good through the end of Feb this month, you also have to report the covid exemption extention hours used through the dot portal with in a limited # days the next month

We are still HOS exempt, but we have to log the load as we ran it. Doesn't make sense, but that is the rule.

I have Konexial my20, it has a dedicated ag exempt mode and shows me off duty when I am running ag exempt.

I need to clarify my previous. If I pop out of the 150 it automatically puts me driving. At that point you would need to annotate the record, like Dave said.

Remember you need 10 hours off between and exempt load and non exempt.

There is a podcast here on bulkloads that explains it.

If you have an ELD it should have an exemption option, there is several, ag exemption, emergency exemption... If your ELD don't have it I would suggest looking into a different ELD. It is more than "just run in pc mode". There is a podcast on here that will help a lot more than I can.

It seems silly to me to spend money on a new ELD specifically for the AG exemption when the FMCSA and the podcast you reference indicate that it is perfectly acceptable to run in PC when you are using the agricultural exemption and simply notate it .

You're correct but use the exemption mode on your ELD if available.
