I have both and it is definitely easier to find work for the hopper in my area but when I do get work for the dump it usually pays better so.....

I've had both and it seems to be a lot more hopper loads than dump. But there seems to be way more hoppers also. Usually you can get another ton on hoppers so that figures in too. I'd say hoppers do better but still depends where you run.

I like my hoppers, I started out with dumps, but now all hoppers, I run three hoppers, get more weight, no mess with a wet line, any tractor can pull a hopper, and I don't lack for work.

A dump cost $20,000 more to buy, is heavier, requires a pto, insurance cost more, will lay over, and primarily is more regional. Hopper loads tend to be longer in distance(or has longer loads available) hopper has more wait time to load and unload. More opportunities with a reefer, your able to be more productive. Just my observation. Best of luck to ya
