Any body haul gypsum in hopper bottom? We have done Ddg's, fish meal loads before and understand that it takes a little work and a good vibrator or two. Just looking to see if gypsum is about the same or if we need to use the belt trailers? Thanks!

My one experiance with it was ok, but it required a lot of sweeping to get it all out. I wind rowed it out in a farm field. Did the rest of the loads with a clamshell belly dump. That worked much better. |

I hauled 4-5 loads last year. It wasn’t bad wind rowing just comes out slow. Need a good vibrator. My personal opinion a load here and there or a back haul every once in a while is doable. But I don’t think I’d want to haul it consistently in an aluminum hopper.

Me and a buddy hauled it and we won’t haul it ever again. Took 10 hrs to unload 2 hoppers. Had a suction vibrator and were hitting the brakes . Nothing...... had to shovel it out.

It depends on the gypsum. We put granular gypsum on our hoppers and it comes out no problem.

Hauled it and a guy said to put a couple of 2 foot 4x4 on the doors tried that it worked good at least started it to flow it is about like hauling pea flour both pack tight. If it wasn’t for the lumber in the bottom it would not have started flowing ag hopper timpte worked but I would use a live bottom next time |

No way. Our gyp around here is like wet beach sand. Would be ugly in a hopper.

Thanks Art
I gave some thought to belt trailers before several years ago and rented one for awhile to haul wet ddg , it was not a Trinity, it was so heavy that 20 tons was all that we could scale and no extra pay for specialized equipment . At that time most wet ddg , in our area, was hauled in dump trailer.
Good to see your still kicking.
Glad to have your input on maintenance, from your post looks like you have had the experience . Thinking of belt again to try to
get specialized equipment pay . Specialized equipment of a different kind is all we have running now. Hoppers are parked. Van’s are just for storage.

I am hot to sell a belt trailer! haha! SO many success stories. Trinity invented the segmented belt trailer as it is known today. Resale, ease of maintenance, lightweight options, high cube options, custom built for you. There is zero risk getting somthing spec'd to see if it will work for you. All quotes come with an estimated weight. Been bulding only belt trailers for 45 years. |
