Under the bus?

Will Biden stand up for the dock workers if they vote to strike in July, or will he throw them under the bus by having a federal Judge issue a injunction, Iike what happened with the railroad? Biden doesn’t seem to support free markets given the way he is trying to boss the ocean carriers and oil companies around, so I’m guessing he will throw the longshoremen under the bus, as he continues spewing propaganda about supporting organized labor, trying to play both sides of the fence.

You all complain about the price of fuel. Now you're complaining about someone calling out the oil company's BS. You can't post your highest profits in company history and simultaneously be suffering from supply chain issues and inflation. Simple logic. They are price gouging the people.

The point I was driving at was nothing to do with oil company profits it was weather or not we have a free market system, and weather or not Biden is going to honor his Campaign promise to organized labor, or toss them under the bus. If Biden supports free markets he should allow the transportation workers in the private sector to strike, and direct the courts to stay the hell out of their way.

As a former union transportation worker, I can tell you that it's very unlikely that will happen. We were under control of the NLRB and needed to be released from negotiations to strike. Usually they would just ignore us for years.

I perfectly understood what you were talking about. I also understand that you have 90,000 post on here. For the most part they are all complaints. I bet you disagree with Biden's breakfast choices. Last I checked there aren't any dock workers on here.

When a bunch of idiots show up and make trash out of my industry you better believe I’m going to complain, but I doubt that’s what’s bothering you since 99% of what’s on this forum is truckers Grumbling about brokers, rates, regulations, etc, it’s my belief that your upset over a difference in political views.

So oil companies are making record profits, but many people have a portion of their 401k in oil stocks, so they are sharing the wealth, is that really a bad thing? Consumers have choices, they can buy electric cars, or they can carpool or buy something more efficient, it’s a choice how much you decide to spend on fuel. If your running your business correctly your customer is paying for your fuel, not you.

I wonder if Biden is going to chastise Microsoft, Google, Apple, JP Morgan Chase, Berkshire Hathaway, etc. etc. etc. for making huge profits also? He will use anything he possibly can to take the focus off of his failures, enormous failures. ALL politicians regardless of party think that the American people are idiots and whatever narrative they throw out for the day is what we will believe. Apparently some still do believe it.

Historically speaking - price controls have always lead to shortages. Imagine if that happened in trucking. "It's illegal to charge more than $3/mile" a bunch of companies would go out of business either on principle or economics. Then there would be even more freight not moving and more supply chain issues than we currently have. Government not allowing the free market to work in oil by restricting pipeline construction, drilling, refining, etc. has gotten us into this mess. Don't let them lie you into thinking it's the oil companies just randomly all decided to be greedy. That's the same bad excuse everyone had back in the 00s too. We don't pump enough oil and it doesn't ship and refine as efficiently as it could thanks to government interfering.
