Are you looking at buying a trailer that has be wrecker ?? and how handy are you at doing major rebuilds , and if you are looking at a 10 plus year old trailer with milllons of mile on it make sure you check the subframes , and hows the sloop sheet are think about how thin those sloop sheet s can be after thousand of loads
I think you would be better at looking for a used trailer the is about 5 years old |

Just keep in mind, everyplace you weld, wether aluminum or steel, will break right beside that weld 2 years later

With dot cracking down on everything anymore i would consider going new and run a few miles worry free. Just remember that your old wagon will be about as hard to sell down the road as it would be to sell flip flops to an eskimo. I think you should at least consider all options before buying a 30 year old trailer. 1 thing to always keep in mind with an old wagon is having it split open on the boulevard and shutting down a major highway for half a day and the tow bill and clean up. Dont laugh this has all happened already
