Moving Dairy in a Tanker

Not really sure about the ins-and-outs of it and how it differs from moving other liquids. More specialized equipment? More involvement with the drivers when with testing the milk or will someone on site at shipper and receiver do that? Any and all info you can come up with will be a huge help in this. Looking to get into moving some dairy for a large customer of ours. Thanks in advance.

As far as the testing goes, the milk plants do that. If you are picking up at the dairy you’ll have to get a sample and keep it on ice, take the temperature of the milk and have a manifest. You’ll leave your sample at the milk plant for the state health department to pick up. You will also have to have a milk inspector card from the state health dept. I hauled Milk out of Arkansas and that’s the way we did it. If it’s just one straight load you’ll have 2 samples. Not sure how they do it elsewhere but Arkansas and Missouri are like that. The milk plants will wash you out when unloaded so you want have to worry hunting a wash out. Good luck
