Hey guys , do you run Texas intra only , and are not a fan of the eld mandate.... I have been talking to my local rep and there might be a chance we can get an amendment. or an exemption for guys who run in state only. If you run intrastate and would like to join the fight let me know. we have until dec. 17th 2019 amd there is an election coming up before the next session so the possibility is there.... this willl not be a go to austin and protest thing or anything like that. but it will take as much involvement as possible. thanks.if you are interested you can contact me at [email protected] again this fight is for an intrastate only exemption done on the state level , not in dc.

Wow your getting all official on this. That’s good. Definitely a fight that we all need to participate in, you know my stance on this. Texas is a big state and that exempt 150 mile radius can get really small really quick especially out west. Any shippers that use Texas intrastate only carriers you need to voice your opinions and thoughts to our state reps as well. This mandate will make it more expensive and harder to find trucks to move your products. We are in this together, without you we can’t work and without us you can’t move your products. Let’s work together to keep commerce moving.

Right now is the time to contact the state reps as this upcoming year is an off year where they are not in session in Austin. Instead they are in their home districts listening to their constituents needs. I believe the various committees they are on still meet in Austin on the off years to work on goals and issues to tackle in the following year’s session in Austin. If we can express our needs and issues we have a chance to get something done legislatively that could amend Texas Administrative Code Title 37 Part 1 Chapter 4 subchapter B rule 4.12 (8) where it mandates ELD’s for intrastate carriers by Dec 16, 2019. It is important that we contact our local reps as well as those on the transportation committee. We have 2 years to get this done. Let’s start laying down the groundwork now and steadily increase as we get closer to the 2019 legislative session. Go look at who’s on the committees I linked to. If you see your rep you especially need to contact them. Call them, write them, email them. Make your voice heard.

Just unass the money and go buy a glider kit. I just bought a 2017 389 with a 3406e cat 1996 cat engine.
elog problem solved. Texas has the bright idea of elogs in 2019 which is stupid, it’s just easier for them to have a computer read then since most dot can’t read paper logs

congradulations on your purchase , but i think we will try this way first , have already talked to a few legislators that have knowledge of and are not in favor of elogs and support an amendment or exemption for small business , just looking for others who want to join in and make free phone calls and cast free votes..... no need in going out and bying an over priced piece of equipment when there are other much more efficient ways to go about it.... not to mention state politics are different from federal ..enjoy your new glider .

Gliders are just an expensive short term solution to a long term problem. At some point you’ll need newer equipment OR the govt will figure out all you need to have an ELD that will track location and times without being hooked to an ECM is a GPS unit. A positive, negative and an ignition wire is all that is needed. If this happens then what? Also Texas is becoming Californicated daily and it won’t be long till we have the emissions BS they have. It’s already starting in the metro areas. How long till that pre emission glider is outlawed? The best solution is to just nip it in the bud before it becomes the 900lb gorilla in the room that it has become for the interstate guys.

yes sir all that is known and understood , but also dec 2019 we willl be required to install an actual eld device in our trucks , unless we stand up and let our legislators know that we do not wnat these devices in our trucks and that we want to run paper logs.... 'the legislators in Texas can amend the eld mandate and waive the requirement for Intrastate ( people who run inside texas only ) drivers . They cannot do anything about the interstate part of it but it can be amended to not require intrastate rivers to install. and that is what we are truing to get people on board for is to let our legislators know that this in an unneccisary device and does not in any way improve promote or even concern safety.
