Anyone else catch this change yet? I have not seen it anywhere else yet. I can't figure out how to paste the link here like normal, but google "overdrive pre-2000 eld exemption applies to engine model year" and it should pop up.
Sounds like gliders are safe from the bs if the block is old enough. |

Yes I agree that the current wording in the FMCSA new eld site says your now safe from the eld if the engine was certified prior to 2000. Also the documentation only needs to be available in your office. You will still need a Legabile EPA sticker or be subject to a fine.

Yes 1998 and you should be good. The original wording was 2000 chassis needs an eld but there were exceptions. You need to call say Ooida and get confirmation.

I called OOIDA. They said that that is indeed on the FMCSA website, and I looked it up as well. However, they said it's not law yet. Meaning that it's not published in the final rule. The published rule still states pre 2000 chassis. I recommend calling and talking to them and have them explain the situation. As usual lots of gray area. This is what's on the FMCSA site.
