ELD’s w/MAP-21 capabilities

May 02, 2018 at 06:11 PM CST
Just wondering if any of you were fortunate enough to choose an ELD vendor that understands the MAP-21 exemption law, and has implemented that exemption into your program? PEOPLENET/ISE Fleet Services suggests I contact the DOT.... Hello? DOT and state senator ask me who I pay a monthly fee to keep my system “fully compliant”? (At least they understand where the problem lies). Not looking for sarcastic remarks about how dumb I was to sign on to the ELD bandwagon. Believe me, I had no choice. But if I can eliminate 340 miles per week on the 2,300 mile turn, someone better make it happen! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

What do ypu mean when you said you had no choice but to sign on to ELDs? Believe Me there are a lot of ways to make a living than drive a truck!

No luck here, I have big road and inquired and they said they'd look into it. Currently I just use an app that draws the radius and I make a note of where I need to start logging.

Thanks for your note. Just Curious how you get “the box” to stop screaming at you while you’re driving that 150+ miles, and not in “Driving Status” with your 11 hour clock slipping away?

Log out, those miles driven shouldn't be going against you either.

Log off/shutdown, and when you finish those miles, log back on and put in remarks that the past 150+ miles were exempt under MAP-21?

Yup, I just put MAP-21 along with the location

I just use the personal conveyance to keep track of ifta miles. once outside of 150 radius, I switch eld on and note exempt miles. turn back to pc when I get back into my 150 radius

It doesn't work like that, however if you are returning to the same place you loaded then the center of your radius would move to where you unloaded.
