The big protest won't start until December, when everyone finds out that the shippers won't raise rates, or pay detention time, because they can't give you what they don't have... The ATA knows this of course, and that's why they are so opposed to hourly pay for drivers. Gooberment can pass any law they want, but making it work is something else.... They said Obama care would lower the cost of insurance, and passed it into law, and look how that turned out? They said prohibition would stop folks from consuming alcohol, how did that turn out?

The less overhead you have after December, the better your chances are to get through this. The older trucks run much better then this new junk

I always get a chuckle out of your antics, like Bahhahaha. You add personality to this forum. It would be boring without your colorful commentary. I always wanted to do a project like that, just haven't found the time.... I would like to build a B model up, with marine nozzles, and camshaft, followed by a sequenchial turbo's, followed by a rtlo2218b tranny, in front of a set of dsp40's with a 3:55 ratio, on flex air suspension. Stuck under a 359xhd, or 81 W900, with a dropped floor pan.

It’s a industrial set up, 14.6 steel tops, the biggest nozzles Cat makes, for a generator, 65% more fuel, they don’t make marine cams for those, you just have a couple choices, you don’t want a peec cam, but I finally found out there is a difference in fuel pump cams, I found a higher degree one with a different profil, that’s where the power is with a C- model, 2 plus grand tho, haven’t got it yet, played with timing and didn’t like that, the b had a better pump cam, way better timing

I thought I ran across some different part#s for camshaft', that for some reason led me to believe one was for a marine application, but it's been a while since I looked up parts. I am more up to speed on the electronic motors these days....like making c-18 parts fit in my accert. Torque is khooool, Bahhhhaahaha!

Witch parts? Iv heard that you can do just as much with a cam injectors tuning ect. Just the thought of a c-18 makes me drool... some guys say the accert is the best to build

I don't have the part #'s In front of me at the moment, but the formula is generally low compression pistons from a factory 625 accert, to take the pressure off the head. Then remove the actuators, and throw them away. C/18 cam & injectors are then installed (I can't remember if the injector cups need to be machined, for c/18, but I know they they do for 6nz injectors, some guys prefer those, claim they atomizer their fuel better.) I would do the c/18 injector my self, matched to the cam... Next you add a 6nz wiring harness and Ecm, with a modified fuel map, and timing program. You can either keep your stock accert turbos, or single turbo it out... I know people who have done it both ways..... I have heard of some people going to a bigger oil cooler, but I think that is overkill. The stock turbos will produce 70 lbs of boost, in this setup. The big advantage modifying a accert, is that they have a massive bottom end, and a superior head gasket. They also have nearly the same stroke as a c/16, without the side loading pressure, that resulted in a short life expectancy of the c/16.. This longer stroke will naturally produce high torque readings.. Now recently, someone came out with a custom Ecm program, that will allow you to keep your 120 pin ECM.... I would opt for the 6nz ECM myself, due to the wider variety of programming..... when this setup is utilized, the results are unbelievable.... your 1850 torque driveline will not take it, without bending.

You can also add the c/18 generator manifolds and turbos, and ditch the factory accert setup, so it would then be paralleled turbos... the drawback is you will have to do some fabricating for exhaust... I am told it will give you a wider power band.

I don’t get the whole side load theory, the 15.2 accert is a 6.7 stroke with a 5.4 bore, c 16 same stroke bigger bore, c 18 7.2 stroke and 5.7 bore,

I believe it was accomplished by locating the wrist pin closer to the top of the piston, so the angle of the connecting rod is not as extreme during rotation.

The c/16 had short life because it had a long stroke crankshaft, on a short connecting rod. This meant the connecting rod was pushing the piston sideways into the cylinder wall, as it traveled up and down..... The accert solved that problem, by using a longer connecting rod. Life expectancy more than doubled. Coffe hadn't kicked in before, I was running two steps ahead, responding to your question on theory.

Curt, we got a bit sidetracked on the protest topic, after it stalled out.. The protest it seems is now growing and starting to draw attention. It seems like xm Sirius is trying to help out the ATA, by down playing it, limiting their coverage of it...Land line seems to be the only segment of xm that's talking about it. It appears that the American Toilet Bowl Association (AKA, the ATA) is starting to get nervious, now that lawmakers are asking questions.

OK then. It was enjoyable to read the post even if it got off track. The forum is much better with the great reads. It needs to be spiced up a bit anyway.
Ive been hearing that it is having some success, and I'm also hearing that the people that decided to capitalize on the lack of trucks on the rate increases because i have seen that in the spot market of especially the van and reefer markets, but hardly any change in the bulk market. My email was a lot more active with brokers looking for trucks and phone calling but it is harvest season in the mid to though.

I have noticed the same. I watch all markets, even though I specialize in bulk... What sets us apart from other segments of the industry, is that our rates are based on what the railroad and barges can move it for. If we were to charge detention time, then the railroad would replace us...... To some degree. Then you would suddenly have all of the trucks that used to do bulk, displaced in the market.. Before a shipper can pay you a higher rate, they first have to have the money available, which most do not, since we are in a global market, and most businesses operate on a slim profit margin nowadays. Secondly, assuming they had the money, they would then have to really need you, before the rate could go up... If the railroad displaced most of us, it would be difficult to convince a shipper that they need us, since there would be too many trucks in the market... Most of us would move to other markets, like van or reefer or flatbed, and then flood that market, and drive rates down. The ELD, cannot fix that, and the megga's know this, that's why they are so opposed to any change in the law, that would require hourly pay for the driver.

Well we went in and captured the city. Those folks did not want to give us permits to have our demonstration. I told them to screw off we don't need permits. Nobody needs permits to exercise their first amendment rights.

Day 1: We took 75 trucks into DC with our convoy, went by the FMCSA building raised a little hell there, then went down by the Smithsonian, then behind the Washington Monument, then in front of the Lincoln Memorial, then took them behind the White House and back over the the FMCSA to wait for rush hour to die down. While this was going on we had people working at the Capitol buildings with representatives.

Day 2: We came in at 02:00 and took the FMCSA for our personal parking lot. We put about 35 trucks at that location and sent 10-15 over to Constitution Ave. behind the White House for preparation of our show. We worked on the FMCSA all day until they called me in to meet with me. We set up a meeting for the following day with a team of 6 Independent Carriers. Once again we shuttled people to the hill to work on HR 3282 for the delay of the ELD. Our California operations kicked off with over 500 trucks, our St. Louis operations kicked off.

Day 3: We had stayed overnight at the FMCSA thereby turning it into our private truck stop, LOL. Met with the FMCSA board presented our issues, and were invited to come back at a later date. They agreed that we had valid points and concerns (especially the hacking issues), we watched the director grill the manager of the ELD's about why we were even trying to force the ELD's on companies. He had no answer, not all of the people at the FMCSA are on the dark side. We sent more people to the hill again. Congrassman Babin came out to meet with us and was excited about the prograss that we had been making on HR 3282. California operations grew to about 1000 trucks strong.

Day 4: We staged all the trucks on Constitution Ave for a big parking protest and truck show. We had many folks come from around DC and interact with truckers and their trucks. It was great to see people loving we truckers around the city through out the whole week. (Except for the FMCSA LOL). More people sent to the hill, we gained a lot of seats and support this week for HR 3282. Played a little big rig horn music for the people and the President, we were told by Secret Service that he heard us and enjoyed the show. He just had a busy day and there was no way he could securely see us. We then decided to head out to our camps and disperse.

Day 5: More activity in California, Miami Operations kicked off.

Day 6: Miami Operations continuing, Indiana Operations kicked off.

These Operations were all done peacefully and without any permit for what we did. You do not need a permit to exercise your first amendment rights. Never believe that shit ever again. The media in DC was blacked out on our event. Now our government is into controlling the Freedom of the Press. We will be sending folks to their local news channels to show the pictures of the demonstration on our Facebook page "Freedom Ride". We must get the word out and for the rest of you contact your representative and let them know to support the HR 3282.
