i was curious if any other companies out there have these devices installed in their trucks. we installed them a couple years ago to track mileage and for GPS for truck so we could better dispatch our trucks. i had a person come to me yesterday and told me that if you had these installed prior to dec 18 2017 that you were exempt from having to do ELOGS for 2 more years. so i called RAND MCNALLY and the guy there kinda told me the same thing. i was curios if anyone else has heard of this and if its true? what i dont understand is that these devices do have the option to do logs so i dont understand why they are they would be exempt from electonic logging for 2 more years. any feedback would be great.

My understanding is you can use the Elogs on these devises for 2 years but will have to change out to a quailfied system. We have been using AOBRD for 2 years using the Elog system in them. Can't even get the system we use any longer.

Yes that is correct. Grandfathered until 12/19

Only pertains to existing units. You can’t add anymore Trucks and still fall under this delayed implementation. If you add a truck it must be equIpped with an ELD
