Diesel Mechanic - Dade City FL

Schwend INC has an immediate opportunity for Diesel Truck Trailer Mechanic at our terminal in Dade City FL.

We are a transportation company looking to hire a dependable diesel mechanic to service our fleet of tractors and trailers. The successful candidate will need to be able to work on everything from tires to engines. Computer diagnostic experience preferred. We are a family owned and operated company and we are looking for a motivated candidate to join our family! You must have dependable and reliable personal transportation.

Responsibilities will include:

• Repairs and required preventive maintenance of trailers
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform maintenance on equipment
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepares safety documents required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company and any other Federal, State or Local regulations
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals
• Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work meets manufacturer’s specifications and legislated regulations
• Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion

Requirements / Qualifications:

• Experience in semi-truck and trailer PMs and repairs
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Preferred that you own your own tools

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

• Must be self-motivated and a team player with the ability to communicate with shop coworkers, drivers and dispatch team.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;

Compensation:

• We are on a weekly pay schedule. Compensation is dependent on experience.

Job Type: Full-time Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Alternate Saturdays 8-12, ability to work overtime on occasion.

Required education:

• High school or equivalent

Required experience:

• 2 years diesel mechanic preferably with computer diagnostic experience
